What is ESA?

An Education Savings Account (ESA) provides parents of students in non-public (including St. Paul Lutheran School) Texas schools a publicly funded, government-authorized savings account with restricted, but multiple, uses for their children's education. Parents may use the funds to pay for eligible expenses including: school tuition, school breakfasts and lunches, uniforms, tutoring, online education programs, therapies for students with special needs, textbooks or other instructional materials. The law prioritizes children with disabilities and from low-income families.

Why choose a private school for your child?

You should choose a private school because your child's future deserves every opportunity to a faith-based education.

A. Fatih-Based Foundation

In private schools like St. Paul Lutheran School, your child will grow not only in knowledge but in character and faith. Christ-centered values guide both academics and daily life.

B. Efficient Class Sizes, More Attention.

Private schools often have lower student-to-teacher ratios, meaning your child gets more personalized instruction and attention.

C. Safe, Respectful Learning Environment

Discipline, respect, and safety are cornerstones of private education. Your child learns in a setting that promotes positive behavior and moral development.

D. Higher Academic Expectations.

Private schools hold high standards and offer strong academics preparing your child for success in high school, college, and life.

E. Parental Voice and Community

In private schools, parents are partners. You'll have a voice, visibility, and a say in your child's education in a way that's often harder in large districts.

With the new Education Savings Account (ESA), a private education is now financially for many more families.

Myths about private schools addressed

Fact 1: Privates Schools serve families of all income levels, not just the rich. Many families make sacrifices and life adjustments to invest into their children's education. With ESA, many families will qualify for financial help that covers tuition and more.

Fact 2: Most private schools hire experienced, qualified educators, and many hold advanced degrees or state certifications. St. Paul Lutheran Christian educators are committed to both academic excellence and faith formation.

Fact 3: Private schools welcome students from all all cultures, backgrounds, and learning styles. St. Paul serves a diverse, multicultural community in places like McAllen.

Fact 4: Private schools may be smaller, but that means individualized attention, tight-knit communities, and more flexibility to meet each child's needs.

Fact 6: Private schools are accountable to parents, accrediting bodies, and often church or organizational leadership. We have the freedom to be excellent, not less responsibility, but higher standard.

Fact 7: Because the states will allocate as low as 85% of their public-school expenses, more children will be educated at a lower cost. This leaves more money to be spent on students in public schools.

Fact 8: ESA is not the same thing as voucher. ESA is in your control as a parent. It is a personalized account, not a one-size-fits-all coupon.
